Outfit Post: Invested in Stripes

My sister says I wear this striped shirt too much.

She's probably right.

But in my defense, I actually have about 9 very different, yet remarkably similar striped shirts that share the spotlight. I love them all.

Is that a problem? An obsession? Maybe.

But a striped shirt is the perfect way to add dimension to an otherwise basic outfit. In my book, it's forever a classic and literally goes with everything.

Seriously.

Florals, plaid, other neutrals, and my go-to favorite - leopard print. It just always works.

Still don't believe me? See here, here, here, here, and here for examples.

And next time you see me eying another striped shirt, don't judge. I really, really need it.

Outfit Post: Flare Up

Everyone - well everyone in the world of fashion - keeps proclaiming "flares are back." It happens every couple years. The runways heavily showcase a certain denim style and suddenly the new "it" jean shows up on all the "in" lists and all other styles are "out."

I hate those lists.

Denim is personal.

Like most things in fashion, so much depends on personal preference, personal style, and personal body shape. To me, denim is the most classically, all-American piece of clothing you can wear, so why limit yourself to just one trending style?

Me? I love my skinnies when it's cold and I want to layer them under my boots. I love my bootcut and flares when the snow melts and paired with sky high heels. I love a boyfriend style with wedges or strappy sandals in the warmer months. I know the shapes and styles that fit with my personality and personal style and I stick with those, regardless of whether or not they are "trending."

My advice: ignore the "it" list and wear what suits you. Because wearing what you like is always on trend.
