Changes

I love writing this blog. It allows me to be creative and express my personal style and rant about all the crazy fashion-y things going on in the world. It's my space to disconnect from reality and enter into the fantasy world of fashion.

But honestly, this blog has become a little too much about "me."

So in the near future, you'll notice a little revamp of The Closet Confessional as well as a shift in some of my posts. In the upcoming months I'm going to slowly adapt this blog to better benefit all of you.

What exactly does that mean?

It means less about me and more about you.

I'll still be writing about my runway/red carpet favorites, what I am currently coveting, and posting my outfits, but I will also be adding posts on fashion tips to help you better curate your wardrobe, style what you already own, and purchase pieces worth investing in.

I love blogs that are focused on high fashion and filled with designer pieces and fabulous celebrity parties.

But this blog isn't that.

This blog has always been for the everyday woman. The woman who wants to look good but does not want to spend all her time worrying about how she looks. The woman that is interested in style, but is not defined by fashion. The woman who, like me, may save up for and splurge on a more expensive item but also still buys clothes at Target (although admittedly I am trying to break my habit of shopping for clothes in the same place I shop for toilet paper).

This blog should not only provide inspiration, but also provide real life tips for defining your personal style, making it easier to get dressed everyday.

So with that, I'd like to announce the addition of a Q&A series.

Wondering what to wear to an event? How to best dress your body type? How to wear a specific item of clothing? Let me know. Send me your questions, outfit dilemmas, dressing room pics. Got a style problem? Let me solve it.

The biggest way to make this blog less about me and more about you is conversation.

So talk to me. Tweet at me. Message me. Instagram me. Leave a comment.

Let's start talking.

Outfit Post: Sleeveless Trench

I'm a big fan of items that can be worn multiple ways. This sleeveless trench is one of those items. It can be worn as a dress or a vest. It can be worn belted or worn open. Over pants or a over skirt. Layered or by itself.

The possibilities for this piece are endless.

I first fell in love with this item over the winter and immediately recognized it's multi-outfit potential. I stalked it for weeks, watching the price go down, waiting for my moment to pounce. It finally went on clearance.

I was too late.

It was sold out online and in all my local stores. But when it's love (and a bargain) you persist and pursue despite the odds. So I called in reinforcements.

My mom.

And bless her heart, without question, she put her life in Virginia on pause to track down this sleeveless trench/vest/dress that her crazy daughter became obsessed with and had grand visions of layering 100 different ways.

If that's not love, I don't know what is.

Outfit Post: Classic

There's nothing easier than a blazer, a great pair of fitted jeans, and killer accessories. It's my fail proof outfit when I'm not sure what the formality of an event is and my go-to outfit when I'm in a pinch (or too lazy to figure out what to wear).

It's the kind of outfit that looks appropriate in most settings (bar, brunch, boardroom), but also the kind of outfit that can easily transform into a completely new look with a quick accessory change.

Quick, easy, and versatile.

Every lazy fashion girl's dream.

Outfit Post: Spring Chill

Spring is here in Detroit, which means it could be 60 degrees and sunny one day and grey and snowy the next.

This was not a 60 degree and sunny kind of day.

This was an infuriatingly blustery kind of day. A fury of flurries kind of day. A makes-you-ache-for-spring-sunshine kind of day. And hopefully the last of it's kind kind of day.

But regardless of whether or not the flurries are gone for good, I absolutely refuse to continue wearing my winter wardrobe. But I also logically know it's too soon to be pulling out my light and airy summertime pieces.

So what's a girl to do? Cozy and warm layers in spring colors.

This bright yellow coat layered over an all white outfit is the perfect way to welcome spring, even when the temperatures still feel like winter. I'm still covered and (mostly) temperature appropriate, but channeling the brighter days ahead.

They say dress for the job you want. I say dress for the weather you want.

Even if it is a blustery and wintery cold kind of day.
