Outfit Post: Caped Crusader

Capes, ponchos, shawls, whatever you want to call them, are all the rage right now.

It’s one of those trends that was “in” about 15 years ago (and 15 years before that) and has since had a recent resurgence. I remember the last time they were "cool." I was 16, in high school, and dying for a fringe version from Gap. My mom thought I was crazy. Probably because she remembered being young and wearing crazy things like fringe ponchos when she was 16.

But they are once again back. Because that’s what happens with trends. They go in and out of style in a never ending fashion cycle.

As popular as the cape/poncho/shawl may be, certain trends are far less desirable to the opposite sex. This is one of those trends. In fact, when I pulled out this number in New Mexico, B looked at me with a slight look of confusion and asked, “what are you was wearing??”

Total man repeller piece.

But I'm not going to lie. I love it. It's warm and basically allows you to acceptably walk around wrapped in a blanket. Plus, I kinda feel like Blake Lively from her recent spread in Vogue Magazine whenever I wear mine.

Man repelling or not, if it's good enough for Vogue and good enough for Blake, it's good enough for me.

And don't worry B, it'll be back out of style in no time.

Outfit Post: Pretty in Pink

Confession: I bought this blazer a year ago and until this day, it sat in my closet, untouched, with the price tag still attached. I'm not sure why I bought the blazer. To be honest, I don't even really like pink that much. Maybe it was a dark and dreary day and I needed something bright to cheer me up. Maybe it was on sale. Maybe I just watched Mean Girls and needed something to wear on Wednesdays.

But whatever the reason, for over a year it hung in my closet mockingly reminding me not to buy things I don't absolutely love (a good relationship reminder as well). And since H&M won't take back receipt-less items from last year (the nerve!), I am determined to make this blazer work - whether I love it or not.

You know what I do love? Witty clutches. And breakfast sandwiches. And, yes, sometimes even, tequila (although this seems to be more of a love/hate relationship these days). Which is why this Kate Spade clutch is perfect. I actually saw the tote version last spring but couldn't justify the price tag, so when I saw this little baby in the clearance section of TJ Maxx, I knew it was fate. Talk about love.

#HellYeah.
